Creative Arts: printmaking
In 2010, etching became a way of thinking about layers and contrast between positive and negative spaces. Applying fine arts to architectural practice can help to provide a new, fresh perspective.
Each print is created by layering print over print, each layer of ink by itself perhaps nothing at all, but when combined, these etches create an artistic composition. The plates are an object of process and rarely considered for their own aesthetic but a shiny copper plate with black ink defining the lines of a mirrored image is in itself beautiful. The relief in a well-etched plate acts as a topography and print landscape.
